Jesus You Are
Jesus, you are
You are wisdom beyond my comprehension,
the quiet architect of stars
weaving galaxies with the wave of Your hand,
while I stumble in the dark,
clutching at shadows and calling them light.
You are love beyond my utterance,
a steady tide that breaks against the cliffs of my pride,
too deep for my understanding,
too vast for the narrow vessel of my tongue.
You are mystery beyond my knowledge,
a horizon that recedes the closer I walk,
yet somehow, I hear You whisper my name
in the quiet rustle of the dawn.
You are a beauty beyond treasure,
outshining every glittering false god
this world laid at my feet;
gold turns to dust,
beside the radiance of Your face.
And yet—
You swaddled Yourself into history,
trading the infinite expanse of heaven
for the cramped breath of a manger,
skin and bone stepping into time.
You embraced a cruel cross,
stretching out Your arms to catch the weight
of all my wandering,
all my sinning,
all my shame.
You became my sin,
taking the scarlet stain upon Yourself,
and there, in the quiet violence of grace,
purchased me—
not with silver,
not with stone—
but with Your own bleeding breath.
You purchased me to be set free.
You purchased me to be like You.
And now,
by the staggering wonder
of the Holy Spirit living within me,
the Infinite makes His home
in the ruins of my heart,
whispering resurrection
from the inside out
