Surrender’s Unveiling

Lord, I thought when I surrendered to You, That I had laid it all at Your feet— An offering of silent trust, A heart opened wide, But shadows lingered in the corners, Whispers of doubt tangled in the threads of my soul. I laid down my fears, The burdens that crushed my spirit, But soon, deep within, I sensed, This was not the whole truth. Moments I still hung onto crept in, Fleeting joys, broken dreams, Hope’s fragile promise, Tightly woven to my very being. I thought I had let go of the past, Yet nostalgia wrapped its tendrils around my heart, Pulling me back to what was familiar, What once felt safe, While You beckoned me towards the unknown, A land of trust, vast and uncharted. ’Twas not just treasures I was afraid to release, But pieces of myself, The fragments I had fashioned, The masks I wore to weather storms, my soul's eager desire to be loved, understood, Yet, in surrendering, I found a truer love awaiting. Lord, I knew then, This journey required an unweaving, An unraveling of tightly held dreams, Not just the forsaking of worry, But the courage to be vulnerable, To relinquish the narratives I told myself, To embrace the exquisite uncertainty of faith. So, I stand once more at Your altar, Not merely with palms outstretched, But open to the deep, An invitation for light to flood every crevice, For the journey of surrender is not a single act, But a dance of letting go, An embrace of becoming whole in Your grace.
